We have been very busy since returning after our Christmas holidays. Last term the Senior Infant children attended the prefab for a Literacy Liftoff programme. This half-term they are attending Mata sa Rang lessons. It is wonderful to have the resources to implement such educationally beneficial programmes.
In class:
We have been learning about Australia and were lucky enough to have a visit from Erin’s mom to talk to us about what it was like growing up in Australia. Erin and her mom made anzac biscuits, for the whole class, to celebrate Australia Day. Anzac biscuits are a traditional Australian biscuit and are so tasty - everyone loved them!
We read a story called ‘Rainbow Fish’ about a special fish who learns how to share with his friends. Rainbow Fish lived in the Great Barrier Reef. We made our own rainbow fish using multi-coloured tissue paper and glitter for each of the scales.
We have been benefitting from lots of new and exciting PE this term. We enjoyed a skipping lesson with skipping expert Lee. He taught us lots of tricks and new ways to get better at skipping. At the end of the day we were amazed to see what all the other classes had learned. We are now all enjoying practising our new skills at lunch times!
We are also learning new golf skills from golf professional Matthew every Tuesday and are having lots of fun trying different shots and ducking every time he shouts ‘fore’!
In SESE we have been learning about Emperor penguins. Check out our paintings!
We have also conducted experiments with magnets. We made predictions before testing each item. We had lots of fun!
