What a busy term this has been for Senior Infants and First Class!
We created characters for our forest creatures, including details about their favourite food and their special qualities. We have enjoyed free writing time, where we get to use our increasing writing skills to create stories and rhymes.
In Seniors we are working hard on our sight words and increasing our reading fluency. We love to have reading time with our library books.
In Maths, we learned about the number 6. We use lots of concrete materials. We were able to enjoy lots of ‘maths for fun’ during Maths Week, including maths trails, board games and open building tasks to name a few!
We learned some great songs and poems for Halloween as Gaeilge – Púca, Púca and Is Mise an Cailleach. Bhí a lán spraoi againn!
We have had the most wonderful experience with Fiona Linnane. We were delighted to get the opportunity to work with Fiona. Fiona helped us to create our ‘Forest Creatures’ and composed the music for our song ‘We are the Creatures of Curraghchase’!
We were so delighted to go to Curraghchase on a field trip. Thanks to all our parents for dropping and collecting us! It was wonderful to take our learning outside of the classroom. We observed and examined the trees, looking for deciduous and evergreen trees. We found many cubbies and created new homes for our forest creatures. We found conkers and counted them. We made lots of patterns with leaves and sticks. Best of all, we got to run around outside with our friends!
