It was a proud day in Kilcornan National School as we raised our 10th green flag for Global Citizenship, Food and Biodiversity. It was the first time since the pandemic that we were able to welcome pupils, parents and community members together to our school and what a special celebration it was! With the fine weather on our side, everyone gathered outside at the front of the school. Those in attendance were treated to a beautiful rendition of 'What a Wonderful World' sung by the pupils of Kilcornan. The Green School's Committee all spoke and gave everyone an insight into the work that had gone into achieving this green flag. We were very grateful to have Limerick hurling captain Declan Hannon as our special guest to raise the green flag with the committee.
Following this, we were delighted to welcome past pupil and current Limerick footballer Peter Nash to the school. Peter brought the Liam Mc Carthy Cup with him for pupils and parents to see. Thank you to both Declan and Peter for being such great role models for our pupils and for taking the time out of their busy schedules to celebrate with us.
Thank you to all staff members who helped prepare pupils and the venue for the day. Our super Parents' Council organised goody bags for all pupils in the school and refreshments for all adults in attendance. They also arranged to have an ice cream van visit the school as an extra treat! Pupils could not believe their eyes when the van arrived! Thank you so much to the Parents' Council for their hard work in making this day so memorable. Please see the gallery for more photos!
