We had an eventful day on Friday 24th June for our green flag raising! After 2 years of hard work by staff, pupils and the Green Schools committee, we were proud to raise our seventh green flag with parents and friends. We were delighted to welcome past pupil and Limerick footballer Peter Nash, Limerick camogie player Fiona Hickey and Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Patrick O' Donovan to join us on our special day. Everyone assembled outside the school and were entertained with traditional music from the senior classes as they arrived. As Mrs. Wixted began addressing the crowd, the heavens opened and pupils, parents and staff alike were sent running in all directions for cover! The pupils will remember the day we raised this flag for a long time to come! We adjourned to the dryness of the school to finish the ceremony where Mrs. Wixted and Minister O'Donovan spoke. The Green Schools Committee gave a synopsis of the work carried out in order to achieve the flag. Maggie Hanley, our invaluable parent's representative was duly honoured also. Our excellent Parents' Council provided refreshments for everyone afterwards. A big thank you to our special guests, parents and pupils who made this day possible. Rain and all, it was a great day!
