Junior & Senior Infants Easter Update

Happy Easter from Junior and Senior Infants! We have had such a busy term! When we came back to school after Christmas we started to prepare for Grandparents’ Day. We learned the song ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams and performed it, along with a poem for our grandparents. They were very proud of us! We loved showing them around our classroom and school.

We had the best time celebrating Wellness Week in school. We brought in our favourite books to read for D.E.A.R time. We took part in a colouring competition, walked a ‘daily mile’ around the astro turf pitch and had a yoga day and meditation morning. We loved the yoga class we had with Ashling and lots of us fell asleep during the meditation!

Junior Infants experienced their first Pancake morning hosted by Sixth Class. There were some very happy chocolate faces afterwards and we chatted about our Lenten promises for Ash Wednesday. Sr. Mary came to visit our class for a Religious inspection and we loved chatting with her.

Senior Infants have been continuing to engage with Aistear with Mrs. Gleeson’s class and they have loved the themes. Both classes have been working very hard on their blending, sight words and reading and having the correct posture and pencil grip when handwriting.

We love using our words ‘As Gaeilge’ in school and ‘Seachtain na Gaeilge’ was the perfect time to try even harder. We used as much Irish as we could during the day and Ms. Balfry gave us ‘Gaeilgeoir an Lae’ certificates. We dressed up in green for our Lá Glas to finish the week.

We had the best fun when the Book Fair came to school. We visited the Book Fair every day and bought lots of books, diaries, pencils and pointers. We loved dressing up for World Book Day during this week and there were some amazing costumes in our class. We also enjoyed Buddy Reading with Ms. Mullane’s Fifth and Sixth Class.

We care about the environment in our class and were very happy to take part in Team Limerick’s Clean Up around our school. We had bags, pickers and gloves to help us and we even found an old hurley in one of the hedges!

We couldn’t believe it when Fiachra in our class won the Easter Raffle! We were so happy for him! Just when we thought that day couldn’t get any better, who hopped by for a visit but the Easter Bunny! He gave us all easter eggs!

We have worked extremely hard in our class this term and are really looking forward to our Easter holidays. Beannachtaí na Cásca oraibh go léir!
