The final of the O'Donoghue Cup took place on Monday 26th June. Led by captains Patrick Ivess and Matthew Byrnes and Ally Mulcair, both teams served up a football masterclass for everyone present! From beginning to end, only a couple of points separated the teams and both would have been deserving winners. In the end it was Patrick Ivess' team, with Patrick giving a super display of skill and effort, that came out victorious. The skill level present on the day by all pupils was to be commended, but more than this was the respect and sportsmanship shown by both teams throughout the match. Of particular mention was Ally and Matthew's team's reaction after the final whistle. This behaviour is what sport is all about and epitomises the values we try to instill in Kilcornan National School. We are very proud of how our older pupils have grown and developed through their time in Kilcornan N.S and have no doubt that they go on to spread these values in their respective secondary schools. A special thank you to our coach Paddy Ivess for giving up his time all year coaching and preparing the pupils for these gaa games.
