Dear Parents and Guardians,
As the summer term draws to a close, I am delighted to share the incredible progress and achievements of our 2nd Class students over the past few months.
One of the highlights of this term was the beautiful celebration of our students' First Holy Communion. It was a significant milestone, and I am incredibly proud of each child for their participation in this sacred ceremony. It was an amazing day that everyone enjoyed and it was an absolute pleasure to share the day with all the families of the class.
In English, the children explored both explanatory and report writing. They put their newfound skills to the test by embarking on an exciting project about Africa. Each student researched various aspects of the continent and created detailed projects, which they then presented to other classes. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to develop their presentation skills and share their knowledge with their peers.
Our mathematics lessons covered important concepts such as weight, capacity, and number. The students engaged in hands-on activities and practical exercises to deepen their understanding of these topics, making learning both fun and meaningful.
The second class had an incredibly active week filled with exciting events that kept everyone on their toes. It kicked off with a marathon relay, where the students showcased their endurance and teamwork, each one passing the baton with determination and cheer. The energy continued with a series of cooperative games, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and collaboration as they worked together to achieve common goals. The week culminated in a thrilling race day, with students sprinting towards the finish line, their faces beaming with joy and the thrill of competition. It was a week of fun, fitness, and friendship, leaving everyone eagerly looking forward to the next active adventure. The teachers also engaged in a fun inflatable run that much to our embarrassment was great fun (I wonder would I have joined the staff if I knew this was going to happen).
In Science, we conducted a series of experiments that captivated the students' curiosity. They explored the phenomena of shadows, gravity, and light, and also investigated what plants need to grow. These experiments provided a solid foundation in scientific inquiry and fostered a love for discovery and learning.
As we conclude this wonderful year, I want to express my heart felt gratitude to all the students, parents, and staff for their hard work and support. It has been an amazing year filled with growth, learning, and memorable experiences. I could not have asked for a more welcoming group of parents to collaborate and help me throughout the year so my sincerest thankyou to you all. You have all made this such a pleasant memorable year!
I wish you all a happy, safe, and restful summer. I look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for another exciting year ahead.
Warm regards,
Mr. Kavanagh
