Welcome back to Junior Infants!
We have had a super first term in school and are really looking forward to Christmas! We are hard at work in Literacy and have finished all our Jolly Phonics sounds. We can’t wait to start blending words after Christmas. We have completed our first reader and have learned lots of sight words and some ‘tricky words’! We love using our whiteboards to practice our letters and numbers. Our Oral language focus this month was ‘making a reservation’ and we really enjoyed making our phone calls to the restaurant!
We have enjoyed lots of art this term and made our classroom sparkle when we made Christmas glittery reindeer! We then experimented with shaving foam, glue and more glitter!! when we made snowmen using our own snow paint. We learned about winter, nocturnal animals and owls in SESE and listened to the story ‘Owl Babies’ after it. We then painted our own Owl Babies to display on the wall.
We have loved learning about the story of Christmas and have been working hard to show kindness, manners and respect towards all our friends and adults in the school. Ms. Balfry is so proud of us!
We are very excited about playing Munchkins in our first Christmas show ‘The Wizard of Oz’. Thanks to Kate for all her help. We have been visiting the community centre to practice. We are getting very good at waiting backstage and walking into our spots on cue. We have been practising very hard on our songs and actions and hope everyone will enjoy seeing us perform on stage!
Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year to everyone from Junior Infants!
