A big welcome to the Junior Infants page! We were delighted to welcome 14 new Junior Infants to Kilcornan National School this year. All the pupils are settling in very well and adapting to their new lives in 'Big School!'. Pupils are becoming familiar with their new environment and we have undertaken walks on the school grounds to enable this. They are working very hard at remembering to use their kind words, kind hands and kind feet and are getting to know their classmates. We have begun learning our sounds and pupils are using their 'sound books' each night.
We have been engaged in many fun activities since beginning school. Pupils have enjoyed 'Active Schools' week, which included Zumba lessons and 'Take on the Teacher Challenge' where they beat the staff in a bean bag relay race! We enjoyed a guest speaker from An Taisce who taught us all about wasting energy and pupils got to act out the story of a cereal being made.
We are enjoying taking part in pair and group work and learning to work as part of a team.
We look forward to a great year of learning and fun! Watch this space for more updates!...
