Fifth and Sixth Class Christmas Update

We had a great and busy term in 5th and 6th class. We have been busy practising for the Christmas show. We will perform some of our Peace Proms songs along with some Christmas favourites. We had Peace Proms rehearsal in UL and we are really looking forward to the show in January.

In Maths, 5th class mastered long division and we had fun using the calculator for several tasks. We also used the Smyths catalogue to complete tasks that were based on a budget. We also had some Hit the Button competitions!

The girls took part in the mini sevens football blitz in Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale. This was good fun and they showed great team work and sportsmanship.

We took part in Science week and enjoyed demonstrating experiments for the class.Everyone enjoyed our experiment day. We also took part in Anti-Bullying week and created cool odd sock art pieces. We also wore odd socks to school for a day.

In History, we learned about the Ancient Greeks and learned lots of facts from each other. We also explored Christmas traditions around the world and here in Ireland.

We were so lucky to be invited back to the Salesian Secondary College Transition Year show. They performed a very entertaining production of ‘Back to the 80’s’. We really enjoyed it and we were so proud to see many past pupils on stage.

We are continuing the Music Generation programme and we are really enjoying all the lessons. For Christmas we composed our own class song.

6th class ran a fantastic bake sale to raise funds for their upcoming VEX Robotics competition in January. Thank you to everyone who baked, donated and attended on the day. They raised an amazing 750 euro to go towards getting competition ready. We are looking forward to the day in DELL, where we will compete with other schools.

To end our term together, we did Secret Santa. This was great fun and everyone enjoyed unwrapping their thoughtful and cool presents.
