Rang a Trí Easter Update.
What a busy term it has been here in third class! We welcomed our new teacher, Ms. Mullane and we made cards for Mrs. Meade to celebrate her new baby Dan. We were so excited when she came in to visit us too!
We have been learning so much this term! In Maths we have been focusing on multiplication, division, money, time and fractions. We really enjoy using interactive games and practical work to help us learn.
For Gaeilge we have been learning about many new topics. We designed a display for An tEarrach (Spring) and labelled it with all our new vocabulary.
In English we have spent a long time learning about narrative writing. We all planned, wrote and edited our stories. Then we wrote them out on bordered sheets and illustrated them to form our class story book. Ms. Mullane was so proud of all the effort we put into our work. We also started our class novel “Bill’s New Frock” and are having fun reading and discussing it in class.
In January we performed at Peace Proms in UL. We had practiced hard and we were very proud of how our performance went on the night! We also celebrated Grandparent’s Day. We designed a poster to show how much we love our Grandparents, and we sang them a song too. We had so much fun showing our grandparents around our classroom and letting them look at all the work we had been doing.
In February, we learned about two very important saints, St Brigid and St Valentine. First, we learned all about St. Brigid. We took part in a live webinar with other primary schools around the country to listen to facts and legends about St. Brigid and Ireland long ago. We took notes as we listened and used them to create a knowledge board all about St Brigid. Then, we made crosses out of rushes like she did long ago and we brought them home to protect our houses.
We had been learning all about circuits in SESE so we used this knowledge to make paper circuit Valentine’s Day cards that really lit up! We were very excited to bring these home and share them with the people we love.
March has been our busiest month yet! At the beginning of the month we celebrated “Engineer’s Week.” We learned about bridges and looked at different types. We then experimented in our groups to see if we could make strong bridges out of paper and tape.
Seachtain na Gaeilge was a fun time in our class. We learned new phrases every day and could win Dojo points by speaking Gaeilge in the yard. We enjoyed performing our new dance, “An Dreoilín” and learning “Amhrán na bhFiann” our national anthem. We sang it along with the Irish rugby players to help them win the Grand Slam! For Mother’s Day we created jars filled with all the reasons we love our moms. We had so many that it was hard to choose just ten! We loved World Book Day. Dressing up in our costumes, visiting the book fair and creating reading forts in our classroom to read with our torches. This last week we were part of the “Team Limerick Clean Up” We learned about Easter, did some Easter art and got lovely treats from the Easter Bunny! So much fun!
We are all happy to be having such a well-deserved break after all our hard work. We will come back in two weeks ready to see our friends and enjoy our final term in 3rd class.
Beannachtaí na Cásca Oraibh!!
