Welcome back to 2nd and 3rd class!
We have had a very busy term so far. 2nd class celebrated their First Confession on 12th February so it has been a very special time for them. They worked so hard in preparation and were fantastic on the night. They sang songs and performed a role play of Zacchaeus. First Holy Communion is only a few months away!
3rd class also had an exciting term as they took part in Peace Proms in U.L. on the 2nd March with 4th, 5th and 6th classes. They performed a variety of songs with a live orchestra along with many other school children around Limerick. It was a great show.
We are still working on shared reading and have recently started Literacy stations with the help of Mrs. Wixted. We celebrated World Book Day on the 8th March and the children dressed up as a character from their favourite book. The children looked amazing in their costumes. 2nd and 3rd class are working on their own stories as part of First Steps Narrative writing. When they have finished, they will make their own books.
We enjoyed learning all about Tom Crean and his adventures to the South Pole in History last month and all about Africa in Geography, particularly Ethiopia and the work of GOAL.
It is Seachtain na Gaeilge this week and everyone is making a special effort to be ‘ag caint as Gaeilge’ both in school and at home. 2nd and 3rd class are learning Irish poems and songs, took part in a ‘scavenger hunt’, ‘Tráth na gCeist’ and a ‘ceilí’ in the classroom.
