Happy Easter Everybody! It been a super productive, enjoyable few months in 3rd Class!
Rang a trí has been a ‘hive’ of activity recently. We studied the anatomy and lifecycle of a honeybee which led to our writing of a detailed, scientific explanation of the different stages of a honeybee’s development. We are becoming very familiar with the feature of explanatory texts and look forward to writing our next one!
In Gaeilge,we have covered the themes of An t-Earrach and Lá Fhéile Pádraig! The children designed their own ‘bratach dheas’ after learning the gaeilge poem about St.Patricks Day parades. 3rd class know the following poems and songs off by heart and we’ve fun reciting them each morning ‘Bláthanna’,‘sneachta’, ‘Mo Mhála Scoile’, ‘Dilín O’Deamhas’, ‘Éadaí’ agus ‘An Port’. Maith sibh! Seachtain na Gaeilge was celebrated through a fun quiz in class and illustrating some seanfhocail, performing the Haka Gaelach and Shoe the Donkey !
In Maths, we have just finished fractions. We used magnetic pizza fractions, cubes and online games to help us understand fractions of whole units. We are mastering our multiplication and division tables this year with daily games such as Hit The Button, popcorn and table shoot down.
Pancake Day and Grandfathers Day were also fun days which we celebrated! The children enjoyed yummy, chocolate treats thanks to 6th class.
World Book Day was lots of fun! We dressed up as our favourite book characters and took part in a ‘Book Quiz’ in class. We listened to an audio book David Walliams while designing our favourite book covers which was super relaxing. Take a look at our origami monster bookmarks which we designed also! 3rd Class spent their pocket money wisely on lovely books and stationary from the BookFair this year.
Have a look at our Zentangle Easter Bunnies which we created this week! Thanks also to Marian who has helped us everyday in the classroom!
Happy Easter from 3rd class!
